A shooter response to popularity of the hack & slash genre, popularized by the Diablo series. In Borderlands not only do the enemies come in bulk, but each slain foe is a chance for a new kind of weapon with an intriguing characteristic, and appropriate rarity level. New weaponry is collected every few steps and players (the game is best enjoyed in co-op) show off the unusual skills of their heroes, for a chance to obtain even better loot, that’ll help bring the next powerful boss down. Impressive action is paired with humour, as Borderlands is filled with quips, funny descriptions and situational jokes.
